Online dating is an internet services that provide their users with the possibility to get acquainted with other people having the same interests and willing to find a friend, a person to talk to, a life or sex partner (for virtual or regular sex), or even to create a family. All these reasons are very often combined. The mechanism of work of such services is the following: the person willing to find a friend/ a partner/ a lover creates an account on a website where he or she indicates his or her name (nickname), as well as various parameters required by the service, for example sex, age, the reason of logging on to the site, interests etc. The majority of such websites support the possibility of posting pictures, video files or other kinds of files that can tell more about the person. Users are usually free to add their personal contact information, such as their ID's in instant messengers, their emails, telephones or even addresses, although the provision of personal information is not recommended by IT experts: they say that even if a website has a high level of security and is a trustworthy resource, there is still a possibility that the data contained in it's datacenters may be lost or stolen, and in this case you'll be the direct target for the fraudsters who have taken possession of your personal information.
The owners and administrators of dating services with good reputation usually take good care about keeping order on their websites, sometimes blocking users that break the rules of normal communication.
